So, my dear Ebonyi Gist Lovers, wetin happen to us? When did burial turn to competition? Who get the finest coffin? Who can hire the loudest musicians? Who can cook enough rice to feed the whole village and the next village? We dey turn sorrow into a display of wealth that many people don't even have!

Let's be real, how many people dey go into debt just to bury someone? How many families dey sell their land, their goats, just to "show" people they are doing well? For where? The person wey die don go. Him no dey see your big canopy or hear your booming speakers.

Maybe, just maybe, we need to rewind small. Go back to our roots. Bury our loved ones with respect, yes, but without breaking the bank. Let's ditch the unnecessary competition and the mountain of debt. Let's remember the simple coffin of the Pope!
